Saathiya: Chhalka Chhalka Re

How's about some Bollywood?

Sorry, I couldn't find any videos with English subtitles.

What's going on? Someone's marriage (not of the main characters of the movie). The guy and gal that do most of the dancing are the main characters and later marry in the movie. For now, they keep as strangers. At one point he makes complementary remarks about the girl, without realizing he is speaking to the father. He comes back to ask what her name is, at which point, he is brushed off. Needless, he keeps trying to get her attention.

  1. Haha I haven't seen a Bollywood film in a while. I think the last one I saw was Kal Ho Naa Ho which is classic.

I know this isn't Bollywood, but have you seen the series of films made by Deepa Mehta based on the elements? She touches on controversial topics in each one.. mostly social issues.. there was Water, Fire, and Earth ( i haven't seen Earth).. Water was probably my favorite.. and is one of my favorite indian films to date. Anyway just thought you would like those, Water was really powerful to me, it portrayed the Widow households in india ( decades ago ) and the stigma, difficulties, and even poverty the women endured. I think primarily though, the character development for the film was really just incredible but the plot was very well put together. Not to mention A.R. Rahman ( whose been one of my favorite composers for a very long time ) did the score which is beautiful and a keeper ;)

  2. Thanks for the tip Jo. I did watch Water and thought it a good movie. I like anything made by Madhur Bhandarkar. Page 3 and Traffic Signal were excellent. Madhur shines the light on real everyday life. In Page 3, it's about the media squashing news stories (and the people that bring them up) that reflect poorly on the media's paymasters (the corporations). In Traffic Signal, it's about the money exchanging hands at a traffic intersection. These movies are available through torrents along with English subtitles.
