IIFA Rocks 2011 - Catwalk + Great Music

The IIFA Rocks 2011 show took place in Toronto Canada and featured many Bollywood movie and musical stars.

The music is outstanding. The combination of music, background, models, and camerawork make this fun to watch. I can't put my finger on why clothing on the catwalk sometimes looks desirable and other times like a garbage bag, comical, abstract, or even nauseating. Furthermore, I do not see these clothes at the local store, especially the memorable wild ones, nor do I see anybody wearing them outside of the catwalk. Anyways the fun starts at the 5:30 marker...

MAIN HOON NA: GORI GORI

It's time for a celebration. I've been checking various search terms on Google and AskButWhy hs been popping up on the first page on a lot of them, especially with famous names and authors (try Max Keiser, John Perkins, Greg Palast, Catherine Austin Fitts, or even Lady Gaga for instance). I'm pleasantly surprised and astonished. I've been getting 30-50 visits per day on a regular basis in 2011, with the very limited number of posts that year. It used be closer to 100 in 2010 when I was more active in posting. I guess that's all the visits it takes to end up on front of Google...

Btw, a belated Happy New Years. Anyone kept to their resolutions? I haven't bothered with them for years.

Anyways, it's time to celebrate with a great, fun song Gori Gori from Main Hoon Na. With subtitles, of course.

This movie probably has the most amount of great songs. The camera work, direction, elaborate costumes/stage, and choreography combined make for some great footage. Remember the songs Chale Jaise Hawaein and Tumse Milke Dil Ka Jo Haal from previous posts?

The making of sausage. here's a look at the studio recording of Lagaan's Mitwa song. And remember A.R. Rahman? He's the one that wrote that now popular song from Slumdog Millionare. I've always called Slumdog Millionare a mediocre film as there's better Indian movies and song out there. I think this song has much more depth. It's just much better!

Here's the other video. Just a word of caution. This video has a great message, but it's circumstance isn't the finest. It shows two couples breaking up and finding each other. But that's not why I want to show the video. The tune and lyrics are why. I'm sure the song writer didn't intend his song to be used by Bollywood as such but here it is anyways.

How's about some Bollywood?

Sorry, I couldn't find any videos with English subtitles.

What's going on? Someone's marriage (not of the main characters of the movie). The guy and gal that do most of the dancing are the main characters and later marry in the movie. For now, they keep as strangers. At one point he makes complementary remarks about the girl, without realizing he is speaking to the father. He comes back to ask what her name is, at which point, he is brushed off. Needless, he keeps trying to get her attention.

Rind Posh Maal: Mission Kashmir

Here's a song appropriate for the anniversary of 9/11 and all the hatred and self destruction that came out of it.

Hot heads needed to be cooled. Time was needed to figure out why it happened. Why did it happen? What was the motive? How could it be fixed? None of these questions wanted to be asked. The real culprits got away scott free and nothing was learned or gained from the event.

Kashmir.. A land gripped by war and violence from Pakistani extremists on one side and a stubborn, cruel Indian military on the other. Pakistan has taken control of the western part of the disputed territory. China has encroached from the north and east. The question remains. What defines Kashmir and do Kashmiris want to become independent or remain part of India?

It's Bollywood time!

Here's another song from the movie Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Sonny (the anti-cupid), once again, drops into the New Years celebration to interrupt the relationship to spite Sameer and Rani near the end of the song. Sameer and eventually marry however!

Taal se Taal Mila from the movie Taal

Another music gem from Bollywood. This time it's the song Taal se Taal Mila from the movie Taal. A much younger Aishwarya Rai (She was in the Guru song) stars in this one. The song is written by A.R. Rahman (the guy who wrote the music to Slumlord Millionaire). He's also written some of the other songs presented on this blog such as Tere Bina from Guru, Saathiya, and a few more that I'll be posting from the movies Rang De Basanti and Lagaan. I believe these songs better represent his talents than Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionare, which got worldwide recognition, but, I feel, is not quite as good as his songs which I've shown on this blog.

This artistic visuals aren't as great as the audio in this video. Enjoy the music.

Sorry about the lack of posts. My interest in blogging has faded. Plus I have spent a lot more time outdoors. It's been a good break from the online world for me. People should be exercising at least one hour a day. Two hours seems to hit the spot for me.

Anyways.. It's BOLLYWOOD TIME!

The older guy attends college in order to meet his younger brother. They both have found a relationship on campus. The older guy's relationship is with the teacher! There's some Hot For Teacher, Van Halen action, in the second part of the video!
