Jessica Jackley: The Story of Kiva

Here is an inspiration. A leader. And what makes for a successful and happy career? When you do something with great intention, motivation, and passion. Money? That'll come along. Don't work for money. Work to make a difference. Leave behind a legacy. An ideal business doesn't make profit its bottom line, but looks at how it makes a positive impact to those it effects.

Imagine having a honest leader with integrity in their character. Trust is a bond that open doors. And you need it because you need the gears to work together. An individual can only do so much. A dedicated team can go much further.

School gets in the way. It limits the limitless imagination, possibilities, and desires of a person. I think a person should be home schooled with a really good mentor. The student should be the one doing the discovering while the mentor helps with the possibilities. Self learning is the best learning of all. Don't be a generalist. Be a specialist. Most of the classes in school are junk. Why do I need to know calculus? Why do I need to calculate a mole in calculus? Just tell me what a mole is and I can conceptualize it. I don't need to spending the whole week doing calculations on moles.

Here's my take on the speech in the classroom: In the video, I fast forwarded the teacher and students questions to when Jessica was speaking again. I was annoyed by it. They didn't have much to add to the conversation. And the teacher threw out thes buzz words and terminology to describe things that already happened in the past. I say, look ahead not what's in the rearview mirror!

RIP: Leslie Nielson at 84

Leslie Nielson passes away at age 84 from pneumonia complications.

Leslie Nielson's comedy will be sorely missed. I remember laughing like crazy in the movie theater at the hi-jinx in The Naked Gun. I had never run into comedy like that before.

Gentleman Leslie probably created havoc in his hospital room, one can only guess.

If Phil Donahue ever does SNL, an imitation of Leslie Nielson should be in the cards.

UN Report: Global poverty doubled since 1970s

Just as I have suspected. The economic system has left out the majority of the people of the world out of the focus of the picture. This proves it. The economic system is for the rich, (built) by the rich, from the rich. If you're poor you don't count. And if you're middle class, you're always being pushed into the direction of poverty by the invisible hand.

So much for a vibrant, prosperous 21st century. Brought to you by the small handful of self focused people at the top. Can you blame the pyschopaths for devising and implementing such a economic system, if no one is going to stop them?

Ravi Batra: US Dollar in trouble in 6-12 months

Interview Date: 11-16-2010

Here you have it. Ravi Batra is pretty reserved and ultraconservative in his predictions. He is now forecasting the US Dollar will face a collapse in 6-12 months.

What this means is.. Spend your money now! Take that trip that's oil intensive! Waste that oil now while it is aplenty and cheap! Go ahead and do what you've always wanted to do while the price of everything is low!

Max Keiser is also in this video and adds his ever so fabulous knowledge to the conversation. Ravi and Max reveal that it is the US dollar that will face collapse, not the Euro.

Chalmers Johnson: The Sorrows of Empire

Here's a another good interview with Chalmers Johnson back in 12-12-2004. His doubts about the people waking up and rebelling against the military industrial complex have been correct so far.

The Coca-Cola Case: 3rd world corporate practices

Here's one of Coca-Cola "best practices" to maximize profits: License a local bottler thug that will willy nilly assassinate union leaders with impunity and then pay a measly sum to the workers who eek out living.

Here's one more reason to boycott Coca-Cola: Stealing water from Indian villagers and making their lives miserable.

Wise Shopper Tip: Buy store brands (find a store where it tastes good) instead of Coca-Cola or Pepsi or Nestle. Yes, Pepsi and Nestle (bottled waters) are corporations with business practices just as bad a Coca-Cola. You shouldn't be drinking that high fructose corn syrup present in cola anyways.

Be smarter than the people in this video. It amazes me that people will drink this stuff when they know union leaders are being shot dead. If only their countrymen stood up for them would their country be so much better. The only people to blame is themselves.

Love and Rockets: Haunted When the Minutes Drag

Terrific song. This song is haunted by a great tune with excellent timing!

LYRICS:
The word that would best describe this feeling
Would be haunted
I touch the clothes you left behind
That still retain your shape and lines
Still haunted
I trace the outline of your eyes
We're in the mirror hypnotized
I'm haunted
I find a solitary hair
Gone and still i remenice
I'm haunted

Haunted by your soul
Haunted by your hair
Haunted by your clothes
Haunted by your eyes
By your soul, by your hair
By your clothes, by your eyes
By your voice, by your smile
By your mouth, by your soul
By your hair, by your clothes
By your eyes, by your voice
By your smile, by your mouth
By your soul

Haunted (haunted)

So this is for when you feel happy
And this is for when you feel sad
And this is for when you feel...
Nothing

Ooooh when the minutes drag
Ooooh when the minutes drag

And this is for the tears that won't dry
And this is for a bright blue sky
And this is for when you feel...
Lucky
And this is for when you feel...
Lucky

Ooooh when the minutes drag
Ooooh when the minutes drag

So this is for when you're feeling happy again
And this is for when you're feeling sad
And this is for when you feel...
Something

Ooooh when the minutes drag
Ooooh when the minutes drag

Haunted (haunted)
When the minutes drag
Haunted (haunted)
When the minutes drag

Ooooh
Ooooh

Chalmers Johnson: Collapse of America, Russia, and Rome

Sorry guys, I was inundated with work. It's tough to change hats. And I'm not much of a multitasker. But I did go through a lot of videos and reading. I'll post that which was most significant to me.

Chalmers Johnson passed away recently. He leaves us with his legacy of great lot of words of wisdom. Here is his comparison of America and Rome as they descend into imperial empire. His comparison of America and Russia goes into the breakup of a once superpower.

Cats: Synopsis of Elections

Democrats to Republicans. Republicans to Democrats. Make up your mind!

The elections of 2010 have come and gone and nothing has changed. Change is bottom up, not top down anyways. Elections are an illusion. The real power is in the individual.

Democrats and Republicans? Jesse Ventura had the best idea of all. Get rid of political parties! Individuals, not corrupting, forceful cabals!

Congressmen Russ Feingold and Alan Grayson lose 2010 Election

INTELLIGENCE MOCKED - THE MAKING OF AN IDIOCRACY

Dateline: Wisconsin and Orlando, Florida.

The California marijuana bill lost. Russ Feingold, one of the few stalwarts against FISA and Alan Grayson, outspoken against banks and theFederal Reserve, lost in the elections of 2010 :(. My head hung low when I heard these two Congressmen lost.

Boy, the public shot themselves in the foot. It sucks to fight the bad guys and then be trapled over by the public. It sucks to be sandwiched between the top (democratic party top) and the bottom (uninterested, uneducated, unmotivated, apathetic, short aighted public). No wonder Florida Congressman Robert Wexler resigned early this year.

A Guide to Blindly Voting - 2010 Edition - Part 2

VOTING BY THE SEAT OF MY PANTS

All right, so I should have put in more hours for my research to become familiar with all the local candidates. But having no interest in becoming a political junkie, it's a painful chore. Voting via your dollar is more powerful anyways.

So here's the 80/20 rule applied to elections: Put in 20% of the time and effort you need to put into an election and come out with 80% accuracy on the ballot. It's voting with a blindfold, stabbing in the dark and hitting your target, you get the point. I've done some trolling at the independent / 3rd party websites and I've found out that at the County level, some of these parties have endorsements for the local candidates.

Here is an example. I have no idea who these judges are. But if I go to the Orange County Green Party website, I can click their Endorsements - Final Draft link, download the PDF, and see some of the Judges they endorse or not endorse.

A Guide to Blindly Voting - 2010 Edition

Dateline: November 2, 2010 California Election (Orange County, City of Anaheim)

First of all, I apologize for not doing that guide to Yelp this week. I'll have it up as soon as I have some free time in the coming days. So just stay tuned.. Anyways..

Who's got the time and energy to pursue a PhD when everyone's busy working. You can't reseach each and every candidate in each and every race. You've got Governors, Senators, House of Representatives, State Senators, State Treasurer, the city Mayor and Councilmen, the school board, the even Judges. Heck, even if you tried to do the research, there's not a lot of information on candidates in the local races.

Rule of Thumb: When voting without doing extensive research vote with blinders on. It's the perfect strategy that will bring this country out of its doldrums.

HUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH? SAY WHAT???!!!!???

Proceed with great prejudice towards third parties and independents. Pick anyone. ANYONE. Whatever you do, no matter how much you like a guy or gal, DO NOT VOTE Democrat or Republican.

And for those races that have only a Republican or Democrat listed, there's still space for a write-in. I'm writing Tommy Chong. He would seriously make a great candidate. Don't tell me I'm wasting my vote. You wasted your vote on a Republican or Democrat.

The toughest races are the local ones (City, Schools, Judges, etc). There's just not that much info on these folks. I'll google their names tomorrow and see what I come up with. It's like reviews for anything else (restaurants, dentists, shows, etc). Avoid the bad ones and go for the good ones! Worst case, you don't pick the worst ones, best case you pick the best ones.

As for the propositions, the sample ballot got me through 90% of them. The John and Ken website helped solve the other 10%. The only one I disagree with them on (and this shows their naive ideology towards lower taxes in general) is for lower taxes for corporations. The corporations want to clawback the taxes they've paid in the previous years. Well I don't think that's such a good idea. Plus it's not deserved.

Voting on California Propositions:
Proposition 19 - YES - Legalizes Marijuana in California. Makes perfect sense when 60% of drug cartel profits come just from marijuana. That's cutting them off at the pass!

Proposition 20 - YES - Redistrict Congressional Districts. This was tough but the Gerrymandering movie recommends yes to move the some of the power to draw voting districts.

Proposition 21 - NO - $18 Yearly Vehicle License "Surcharge". It's a tax to feed the politicians' coffers! So it's a definite no.

Proposition 22 - YES - Prohibits the State from commingling funds reserved for Transportation, Redevelopment, or Local Government Projects and Services with the General Fund. Shouldn't taxes paid specifically for transportation go towards transportation infrastructure instead of some pet project to give the homeless free apartments to live in?

Proposition 23 - YES - Suspends Implementation of Air Pollution Control Law (AB 32). This law was sourced from fraudulent or disingenuous research and representation. The state hired a guy who had fake qualifications (some PhD or such) and he wrote policy recommendations for the State, and the State pollution board knew they had hired a fake!

Proposition 24 - NO - Repeals Recent Legislation That Would Allow Businesses to Lower Their Tax Liability. Restated: Part of the scheme would allow Corporations to claw back their taxes from previous years. No way! Pay your fair share!

Proposition 25 - NO - Changes voting requirements to pass legislation from Two-Thirds to a Simple Majority for the State Legislature. No way! Keep at 2/3rds so they need 2/3rd to pass higher taxes! Less legislation the better!

Proposition 26 - YES - Some State and Local Fees must pass by 2/3rds vote. Good idea!

Proposition 27 - NO - Rids of State Commission on Redistricting. The movie gerrymandering recommends to keep this 14 member panel with powers to redistrict which will keep the power away from the politicians.

Anyways, more on the local races tomorrow..

PS: I noticed a whole lot more junk mail this year. Must be the free speech corporations kicking in donations. We received huge thick 1ft-1.5ft sheets of paper and brochures in the mail. It's funny cause all the candidates would send in the same size format and style format on the same day so the marketing wasn't all that effective in terms of sanding out.

For now, here are some great places to research and find out about 3rd party / independents for your area:
1) RonPaulForums.com - Local Activism
2) Liberty-Candidates.org (by states)
3) ReTakeCongress.com (Congressional Candidates)
4) TenthAmendmentCenter.com (Constitutionalists)
