Michel Chossudovsky: US wanted Yugoslavia broken up

Michel Chossudovsky on US objectives in Yugoslavia:

The US wanted to destabalize Yugoslavia and split it up. Yugoslavia had strong economic development, social programs, worker cooperatives, etc. It was a peaceful multiethnic country.

The bankruptcy program under the World Bank was there to trigger bankruptcy of entire areas of productivity in parts of the country. In order to pay back the IMF loans, the central government froze revenues and did not allow the transfer of funds back to states which led to succession.

Al Queda was involved in the country to provide arms and to invite in the Mujahadeen in order to break it apart.
